World Cinema

Joel and Ethan Coen’s World Cinema pokes fun at the regular stereotypes that we see everyday. One doesn’t assume a cowboy to be very cultured, but here he is, trying to decide which foreign film to watch. In true Coen Brother’s fashion, they take their main character and put him straight in the middle of an unlikely situation. Staying true to his roots, the main character asks if any of the films feature livestock, which is by far the funniest part of the film. This cowboy finally chooses which film to see and actually enjoys it, and tries to pursue a friendship with the theater employee that suggested it. The movie’s overall message just seems to say “try something new once in a while.”
